Academic Goals
Upon graduation from ABCCS we hope that our students will:
- Be proficient in all core subjects areas such as Reading, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies
- Have clear and effective communication skills in English and Spanish
- Have the ability to problem solve creatively and think critically
- Demonstrate skills associated with self-directed learning
- Have the ability to apply the knowledge gained in all courses to real life
- Understand the world around them in regards to politics, culture, music and the arts
- Be technologically prepared for the ever changing modern world
- Appreciate the value of determination and perseverance to improve one’s life
- Be prepared to further their education in order to reach their highest potential
In addition to the goals stated above, in order to graduate 8th grade from ABCCS, a student must have met the following requirements:
- Satisfactory completion of all core subject classes (English, Math, Science and Social Studies)
- Satisfactory completion of at least one elective class during 8th grade year
- Satisfactory completion of at least 2 elective classes in grades 5-7
- Satisfactory Attendance Records
- Complete 10 hours of Community Service
In addition to these goals, in order to graduate 12th grade from ABCCS, a student must have met the following requirements:
- Completion of 22 credits earned from 9th through 12th grade. These credits must be earned in the following arrangements in order to meet state standards
- 4 credits in English
- 4 credits in Mathematics
- 3 credits in Science
- 3 credits in Social Studies
- 2 credits in Language
- 1 credit in Health / Physical Education
- 1 credit in Arts / Humanities
- 3 credits in electives (can be an extra core or AP)
- 1 credit Community Service = 80 hours (20 per grade level)
- Satisfactory Attendance Records
- Completed the PSAT in 11th Grade
- Take the SAT during 12th Grade
- Submitted at least 3 college or job applications
